I’ve been working on something a little different for the past few months (hence why London Cyclist has been a little more quiet than usual) and I wanted to share it here with you guys, as I’m sure some of you will love this!
It’s a new iPhone and iPad app called Caveman Feast that I worked on with a good friend of mine Abel James. I can tell it’s going to be popular as we haven’t really told anyone about it yet and it’s already number 2 food app in the US and number 3 in the UK.
The app contains 201 incredibly delicious Paleo recipes.
In the UK, “Paleo” still isn’t very well known, but in the US it has a lot of support. It’s basically what my ultra healthy Greek grandma has been telling me to eat for years. You avoid grains such as bread, potatoes and rice and instead focus on vegetables, nuts and meat. The idea is based on our ancestors and what we’ve evolved to eat.
I won’t go in to too much detail here, but people who eat Paleo often report more energy, weight loss and better fitness (sounds like a todo list of things I’d like!). I personally try to eat Paleo where possible, though I’m not especially strict (after a few drinks I can’t rule out a trip to the chippy!). However, I have noticed a big difference from when I cheat and when I eat healthy.
My favourite section of the app is the Grain-Free Goodies section that contains healthy alternatives to all the classic cravings such as these Blueberry espresso brownies:
You can search the App Store store for Caveman Feast or follow this link.
If you are on Android or Windows Smartphone you can see many of these recipes on Civilized Caveman Cooking.
I’d appreciate your help in making this app a success, so do download a copy and let me know if you like it!

Amazing – didn’t know you two knew each other! I have already downloaded Caveman Feast and read Abel’s website regularly! Paleo is the way forward…

Small world! Great to hear you’ve already got a copy of the app – crazy how much work goes in to these things but it’s incredible when you see them up there in the app store 🙂

Hi there. Nice app 🙂
Any chance this can be updated slightly to allow for metric volumes and measurements for non-US users.
thanks
Andreas says
You can switch from US to Imperial/Metric. Just checkout the recipe page. Is that what you mean?

Been Paleo for almost two years now and it IS the single most important change I have made in my life!
Well done in helping spreading the knowledge, Andreas.
Andreas says
Thanks Andrea – happy to be helping people out with delicious but healthy recipes 🙂

I love this! I have recently attempted to cut bread and potatoes out of my diet, however I keep relapsing as I get so hungry and the chicken shop on my road is too appealing! I’ve never heard of a Paleo diet before but will definitely be trying it out now 🙂
Andreas says
Love it Harriet – hope the app helps out! Think the trick is to master cooking sweet potatoes instead – you’ll never look back!

Hi Dreas
…Problem I’d find with this is that I don’t enjoy cooking meat, and I doubt I could live without pasta or rice!
Looks good though, well done on all the hard work! 🙂

Thanks for the comment Zoe. You might be surprised with how much better you feel cutting down on pasta and rice – however, it’s certainly not for everyone!

I’ve been sticking to my reduced carbs diet since shedding the extras pounds for my London2 Brigton ride and I love it, but finding new recipes is hard so I’ll def give this app a try. The hardest meal is lunch and I still believe in carbs so try to have one meal a day that includes it… Still love my rice and potato skins are hard to beat!!!
Andreas says
Don’t think you have to go 100% paleo to enjoy the benefits – I’m certainly not! Hope the extra recipes are a great inspiration 🙂

It gives regional recipes that have familiar tastes and ingredients while still being nutritionally balanced and
meat free. This vegetarian paleo diet also helps fight cancer and diabetes.
These can be made slightly more sweet with the addition of a small amount of honey.
