If you are looking for a rather spectacular challenge for next year, then how about this?
The Deloitte Ride Across Britain is perhaps the UK’s best known long distance cycling event.
It covers 960 miles in 9 days and is open to 700 riders that are fully supported. Whether you ride for the scenery, for the challenge or just because you can – it’s a great event to get involved in.
On June the 8th, the ride will be starting off its fourth year. Covering 100 miles per day, the route takes participants from John O’Groats to Lands End.
As an incentive to be one of the first people to register, the next 50 people who sign up will get to choose between a free elite turbo trainer worth £140 or Brooks B17 saddle in either men’s or women’s style worth £65.
To enter, use the code HALFORDS2013 on the DELOITTE Ride Across Britain website:

There is in fact an even more spectacular cycling challenge happening next year which is the 1400km London-Edinburgh-London, 28 July – 2nd August. Entrance fee of only £219 including all food, rest facilities and bag drops. Registration opens to all on 5 Jan 2013. http://www.londonedinburghlondon.com/

Hardly – 960 miles is 1536km, so a full 136km longer. It is also the longest end-to-end route you can ride – LEJoG or JoGLE.
Chris Bolton says
Ah yes, the London-Edinburgh-London may be just under 10% shorter in distance but it has to be completed in only 5 days, which is a real challenge in my book?
David Bates says
And as a free bonus, anybody wanting to do 1400 km in 5 days can get a free mental health assessment?
Stewart Bentley says
London Edinburgh London may be a touch shorter, but as you have under five days to complete it, it’s clearly a much stiffer challenge.
Plus, you get to start outside Buckingham Palace, and finish in north London, so no need to trek back to the start after you’ve finished.
And as it’s over £1500 cheaper than the ride across Britain, it’s a lot more accessible to everyone. Which is why you’ll need to move fast when entries open on 5 January 2013.
