I like writing about cycling culture, it definitely beats writing about the latest cycling injury figures. One bit of cycling culture that has caught my eye for a while but that I haven’t really covered here on the blog is the Art Crank Poster Show.
The way I first came across it was on Flickr. I don’t know about you guys but I love using my stumble account to browse through good photography. Anyway at some point I came across this image on the right and found out it was from the poster show.
I looked it up on their site and they seem to be extremely popular shows but are currently only in America. This is a shame because I can see it being very successful here in London. I have left them a message to see if we could organise something here.
The posters are designed by local artists who love cycling. These are then sold at affordable prices ($30ish) and some of the proceeds tend to go to charity.
I think this is an absolutely great idea and good way to showcase cycling and local artists. As you can see from the posters the quality of the art coming out of it is great.
