Today I’m releasing a second eBook to subscribers called “Guide to Cycling in London”. Most of the content from it is applicable to cycling in any city. It is a 37 page eBook filled with great cycling advice catered for everyday cyclists.
Here is quick overview of what you get:
- How to find the perfect cycling route through London
- 3 must-try London Cycle Routes including an impressive 25 mile Grand Tour of the Grand Union and a quirky 5 mile gentle ride around the unusual sights of central London.
- How to undertake and enjoy your first long distance bike ride
- The three tricks you won’t learn at cycle training
- How to never have your bike stolen
- How to meet fellow cyclists and go on group rides
- Turning your cycle commute into a workout
- London’s coolest bike shops and cafes
- Guide to buying a second hand bike
- All the best gear that makes a difference
- Storing a bike in a “cosy” London flat
- How you can make London a better place for cycling
Plus more but I don’t want to list everything and would prefer you just download it and have a look through for yourself!
Of course if you are a subscriber you also get another free eBook that guides you through the basics of Bicycle Maintenance. I’ve lost count of downloads of that guide but it is well in the region of 5,000 to 6,000 downloads. I’m very pleased it has done so well and is helping so many people look after their bikes. I hope this guide will be equally well received.
To get these two free amazing guides all you have to do is join the 1,211 cyclists who receive the London Cyclist newsletter. You’ll get plenty of great cycling tips and a weekly roundup of the posts on London Cyclist. Also you can unsubscribe whenever you want in just 2 clicks by following the links at the bottom of the email.
If you enjoy the guides then all I ask in return is I would really appreciate you spreading the messages to others by pointing them to this blog post using your blog, Twitter, Stumble Upon, Facebook or good old e-mail. Thank you very much for helping!
Note: I’m expecting high demand for the eBook so I apologise if the download crashes / becomes unavailable. Currently I’m hosting the file on Dropbox and will move it around if that becomes an issue.

Good guide Andreas, it’s the sort of thing TfL should be producing, but I’m sure Boris is on your mailing list already! Will have to try out the route planners suggested, I can just about navigate central London using the main roads, but it would be nice to use quieter streets and spend more time enjoying the sights than watching the traffic.
Andreas says
They are a bit hit and miss but definitely worth trying. It’s nice to sometimes take the quiet road..
Philippe says
Oh I want to thank you so much.
This guide is wonderful. What a nice work you did.
For sure: THIS ISN’T SPAM!!
Kind regards, Philippe
Andreas says
Thanks Philippe! Often does get wrongly recognised by email programs as spam which can be annoying for those who want to receive the newsletter!

Hi Andreas.
Just wanted to add some praise!
Great guides. Especially impressed with the Guide to Cycling in London. It really is useful whatever city you live in, and I’m looking forward to trying out some of those routes when I’m next in the capital.
Andreas says
Thanks buddy 🙂 If you like it then please feel free to mention it on your blog!
el-gordo says
Hi Andreas,
Thanks for all the hard work in the guide, it is really good and shall definitely do one of the rides.
Just as a matter of interest, is the ‘Scootering’ trick legal? I always thought it was but was stopped by a Policeman in St James Park a few weeks ago, who said it still constituted riding.
Andreas says
As far as I’m aware you would probably be told off. Doubt you would be fined though.
el-gordo says
No, I didn’t get a fine. Just told to stop doing it.
Cheers
sally says
Hi Andreas,
I checked my spam but no guide, any chance of resending?
Cheers
Andreas says
Hey Sally – will send out links on the Friday weekly update. Keep your eyes peeling for that tomorrow morning.

I think you have done an amazing job. So much information to take in. there are a few spelling and grammatical mistakes. but we can let you off on those.
You mentioned on the first page you may look for a designer for the revised editions. I wouldn’t mind giving a hand on this. I’m pretty handy on InDesign.
Email me if you want to chat about it.
Inside Pro Cycling says
This book contains some great cycle routes around London. We’ve tried four of them now and enjoyed them all. The routes seem to be very well chosen — they are mostly on quiet roads and interesting back streets that you wouldn’t otherwise find, with some interesting sights and hidden gems along the way. I found that when you depart from the route in the book for any reason you encounter more traffic, so the author clearly gone to a great deal of effort to find the most cycle friendly route.
By the way, come and join us on September 2010 Cycling Tours in September with Inside ProCycling Tours. Experience the great scenery of Italy on September for the 2010 Cycling Tour. Ride and enjoy Italy!
This would be totally exciting!

Congratulations on your Bicycle Touring Pro website – its the most comprehensive, entertaining and informative cycling site I’ve ever seen. Great stuff!
However, there have been a couple of problems with access.the I’ve tried to download the free e-book “Cycling In London, England” several times with no success. There’s been no reply to the e-mail I sent asking for help to get the book, nor have I seen the promised free article giving advice on bicycle touring.
If the above promised articles are as good as the site, then I’m really missing out on valuable information. Help!
