To drift away just a little from the typical topics discussed on this blog I wanted to mention one of the coolest gifts I got this Christmas.
A Kenwood Smoothie To Go smoothie maker!
(Amazon have it for just £19.99 here or even cheaper if you pop into a Robert Dyas)
Next time you cycle past your supermarket or London market grab yourself:
- Strawberries (not in season I know)
- Blueberries
- Bananas
- Runny honey
- Carton of apple juice (otherwise water will do)
Combine them all in the smoothie maker and out comes a delicious, healthy smoothie. The good thing I’ve found about the Kenwood is that it is designed for you to take it with you.
Quick, easy, awesome!

My every morning breakfast is a smoothie of hemp or oat milk, bananas, blueberries or any other soft fruit, rye flakes and a huge handfull of spinach, kale or other green leafy veg. A whole balanced meal, right there is a glass. The fruit masks the taste of the green veg, the hemp provides all the essentail fatty acids, oat and rye provide fibre and bulk and you get all the vitamins, minerals and protein you need from the whole combination. And it tastes delicious. Chuck it all in and you’re good to go.
When I’m cycling, it’s the best thing because it doesn’t sit heavy in the stomach.

I like the liquidiser…nifty. Can’t say the same about smoothies though (liquid acid for the teeth unless sucked through a straw).

We must have been on the same wavelength today….I posted about smooties as well. If you ever get the chance to try out a Vitamix blender, you should give one a go. They are the rockstar of blenders.
Nice post, and a great thing to be promoting.

I second that. I have a vitamix and it’s the best thing in my kitchen.

Hey Andreas….did you pick up a VitaMix? They’re quite pricey, but I think you’ll find that it’s worth the investment.
How are the smoothies coming along? Dude, I have some recipes for you if you want them.
