Summertime madness is here and of course it is the perfect time to see London by bike. Here is a roundup of some fun summer cycling accessories for you.
Wine bottle holder for your bicycle
Who wouldn’t want this wine bottle holder? It suggests elegance, fun and a willingness to get a little bit tipsy at any time of the day. This might quite simply by the most important summer cycling accessory you get this year. The wine rack is available from Oopsmark.
Linus Market Bag
We’ve reviewed the Linus Market bags on London Cyclist. Our conclusion: Get it! There are a great pair of simple panniers, that look good, get the job done and don’t take up too much space when they are not in use. Don’t expect anything too heavy duty and don’t expect rain resistance but for carrying your picnic, it’s perfect! These bags are currently sold out, so keep an eye out for the restock!
DHB Padded Undershort
Whether you discovered it during the Dunwich Dynamo or during your 5 mile route to work, your bits can get a little bit sore sometimes. However, you don’t necessarily want to go full lycra yet. It’s a big commitment, I understand. Instead, a nice interim and discreet choice is a pair of these DHB Padded Undershorts. Feel the comfort but be warned, it will draw you in to the lycra crowd!
Available for men and women (£17.99).
Tenn Fingerless Gloves
Keep your hands and wrists feeling comfortable. These well designed, padded gloves are a don’t-tell-anyone-how-little-they-cost bargain at £7.49 from Amazon. If you are looking for a pair of gloves that look great and help you feel more comfortable on your bike then you’ve found them!
Knog Boomer USB bike light
A couple of years after launch, the Knog Boomer USB continues to sell really well and remains a popular bike light for cyclists. Why? It’s incredibly convenient as it can be reached via USB, saving you from buying expensive batteries. It provides plenty of light so you’ll be seen and you’ll be able to see the path ahead. It quickly and easily attaches and detaches from your handlebar, so you can pull it off and put it in your pocket when you reach your destination.
Mobile phone bike mount
Whether you are on the Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5, there is a bike mount out there for you! Costing between £29.95 and £34.95, attach one of these to your handlebars and away you go! You’ll be able to quickly load up Strava, follow directions and check your messages when you are stopped at the traffic light. Marvellous! We’ve got a full list of recommended iPhone apps and recommended Android apps.
Market Shopper Maroon
Is a backpack? Is it a pannier? Is it a hat? Who knows, but it costs £55, looks great and is very practical. This bike bag from Kickstarter funded Good Ordering, promises high quality, water resistance and plenty of pockets for safe storage of your bits and bobs.
If we get a sprinkle of rain are you ready? Of course you are! The DHB Minima jacket, stuffs away in to your bag, pannier or seat post bag and is ready to leap in to action if it starts to rain or you feel a little chilly on your ride back home. A great jacket to have around and it costs less than £50. Available from Wiggle in male and female forms.
Topeak all weather tri-bag
Quickly and painlessly reach your phone, keys, wallet, energy bar or lipstick depending on the scenario with this rather useful little bag from Topeak. The waterproof rain cover also comes in handy for when the British weather proves typically indecisive.
Hey good looking! What-cha got there? Could it be one of the awesome I Bike LDN T-shirts? At £20 you can flaunt your biking passion.

Linus bags look like excellent quality, but everything on their website is sold out, and nothing has been updated for over a year?

Interesting – maybe they’ve stopped producing them. If you have any more info on them I’d love to hear it. Have you dropped them a quick email?

I have worn padded undershorts for 5 years now and they are very good. They have never led me to wearing lycra. It would make me look very silly as I ride a Bicycle Cruiser!
