Here is 2011’s top cycling blogs list. Enjoy and make sure you add some more great blogs to your RSS or Twitter feeds. The list is based on factors including page rank, Alexa Rank, Google In-links, Twitter and number of comments.
- When I first created the list in 2009 just 24% of bike blogs included had a Twitter account. In 2010 that grew to 62% and now in 2011 you are really the odd one out if you don’t have a Twitter account – 73%
- The three blogs with the most active commenters are: Bike Snob NYC, Fat Cyclist and London Cyclist – thanks guys!
- The three bike blogs with the most traffic are: Bike Rumor, Prolly is not Probably and Bike Portland.
- Bike Snob NYC has the most Twitter followers: 16,134
- 11% of blogs included are focused on “Cycle Chic”
Some notes on the bike blogs list:
- My definition of blog: The site has to be primarily focused around the blog and can’t be part of a much wider organisation E.g. the excellent Guardian Bike Blog can’t be included.
- Must be recently active and have as a main topic cycling
- I’m always on the lookout for more bike blogs and any left in the comments below will be considered for the 2012 list
Yellow = New entry in top 50
Biggest mover = Let’s go ride a bike

Friedel says
Thanks for the great list, and for including us! Some great resources here.
Karl McCracken (twitter: @KarlOnSea) says
One to include next time – Yehuda Moon. One could argue that it’s a comic strip, and not a blog, but it does respond to current news items, runs daily, has an RSS feed, and comments – lots of ’em!
For this list – once again I’m flattered to see myself in such company!

It is a tragedy that Dicky isn’t on there! http://teamdicky.blogspot.com/
Also, Jill Outside is on twitter @alaskajill
That said, now I’ve got some new blogs to go check out. Thanks!
Andreas says
Thanks for heads up on Alaskajill twitter – I’ve added to list..
Dicky says
Thanks Anthony, a tragedy indeed. When this list was published the internet froze world wide, stock prices plummeted, the price of grapes skyrocketed, churches ignited in spontaneous flames, all the traffic lights in Charlotte, NC turned red for three hours, and Charlie Sheen was left speechless for 36 hours.
I don’t believe that Andreas knew just how grandiose the implications of this oversight would be.
I only hope the world can recover and the lights in town can resume normal operation soon.
Andreas says
I also heard the new James Bond movie was cancelled because of this. Daniel Craig refused to take part.
Dicky says
Thanks to you, they are talking to Timothy Dalton again.
Sad days indeed.
Loving the Bike says
Great reply Dicky….I like your style.

Darren Alff says
Thanks again Andreas for including Bicycle Touring Pro in your list of the Top 50 cycling blogs. This list and the other websites included help to motivate me each year to make my website and my community that much better. So thank you!

I’m a big fan of georgethecyclist as well. This guy has toured all over the world–his latest two months in Turkey. He’s followed the Tour de France the past seven years on a loaded touring bike and files extraordinary detailed dispatches from the trenches. He realy ought to write a book.

It’s a tough job determining which cycling blogs should be included in your top 50 list, huh Andreas? We’re all part of a fantastic cycling blog community and are all worthy of readers.
If you aren’t already on our Crank Listed World Cycling Blog Directory, please submit it to http://cranklisted.com and watch for the 2nd Annual Crank Honors coming in May where we’ll select the top dogs of the cycling blogs.

Bike Friendly Windsor is a voice for cyclists in Canada’s southern most city (the largest international border crossing in the nation). Bike Friendly Windsor was formed in January of 2010, and its goals are to represent all cyclists in Windsor and to help make Windsor a more bicycle friendly city. The blog and a Facebook page are its online presence. Cyclists in Windsor say, thanks for considering checking out BFW.

surprised Red Kite Prayer, Velominati, and Cycling Tips aren’t listed – are they in the top 100 possibly?

Great post and thanks – I imagine this took quite a bit of research. Surprised Red Kite Prayer and Velominati aren’t listed – are they in the top 100 possibly?

Hello
I just wanted to toss my new cycling website/blog – http://www.My-Bicycle-and-I.com – into the ring. By way of introduction I am a Sussex-based professional magazine writer and sometime photographer who loves bicycles and cycling. Unfortunately I seldom have the opportunity to write about either of those things in the magazines I usually work for and so I decided to put together this eclectic (and growing daily!) collection of stories, essays, reviews and columns; sort of a magazine-style blog.
I hope you’ll find some things in it you like.
